Onion Breath!!! Eww!!

So I have come to find that teething is the single worst thing that my baby girl has to go through. With immunizations, I find comfort that her pain will be gone in minutes and I can provide her with comfort. Teething on the other hand...Nope!! Teething tablets are only temporary, my finger starts to throb with pain from her munching, her clothes are always drenched with drool, and um yeah..she doesn't sleep!!! I am always open to suggestions and home remedies that will help provide some relief for Alison as her "teeth grow out of her head". My sister in law who is a pro at being a mother suggested that I let her chew on a green onion. The onion provides relief while allowing the gums to remain soft so that the teeth cut in easier. Alison made the strangest face when I first gave it to her, but when I finally took it away she screamed...Go figure..typical girl..can't make up her mind!!!

What is this????

Belle wanted to know what I was giving her too!!

Umm..I think I like this!!

Have you smiled today?

Tonight my sister in law prepared a lesson for my nephew and niece that touched my heart. Her objective to her lessons are kept simple as they are young, but there is always something to be taken for everyone. She talked about all about smiling and being happy especially when your prayers are answered. She read a quote regarding smiling that I wanted to share with everyone.

"A smile costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along wihout it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business, and is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and is nature's best antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen, for it is something that is no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give."

And to top off this great quote, my darling adorable nephew flashed me the biggest smile when the lesson was over. As I reflect back on the last few months on being a mom, I would have to say that Alison's smile is my most favorite thing. I could be having the worst day or the best day ever, and once she flashes the widest smile ever I seem to forget about everything at the moment and just allow her smile to embrace every part of me. What that said....Give a smile...share them with all!!

Don't mess with my food!!

So today not only was it a special holiday but it was a great milestone for Miss Bugga Boo..Mommy finally got over her depression that her girl is growing up and decided to stop torturing Ali Lu by feeding her solid food that she is soo eagerly been trying to get her hands one. My piranha has been desperately trying to eat any food in sight. So...we started rice cereal tonight. Shhh...Dont tell Dr. Mahfoud..He said 6 months...well 5 months and 2 weeks is pretty close to that! It went well except for the fact that Alison did not care for the pause in eating as mom redipped the spoon in the bowl. How dare I make her wait!! Overall she did very well and enjoyed her first meal. Mom is hoping that she is going to sleep even better!! Yeah!!! Here are some priceless faces from our cereal session!!

Happy Easter

Well as the day is coming to an end, I can't help but stop and reflect on the amazing meaning of what the day truly represents. Our family is so grateful for all the wonderful blessings that have showered us from above but most of all we are forever thankful for the eternal promise that Christ made us when he so freely paid the ultimate price for us sinners.

We had an overall semi quiet day which was nice for Alison as she got to visit with family that she doesn't get to see very often. She got lots of wonderful presents from so many people that love her so dearly. She got a new blanket, sunglasses, swim suit, much needed short outfits, lots of money, the amazing animal train and animals, a walk/ride bike, a mini elmo easter basket from her favorite cousin Moe, and much much more. She loved every bit of her day!! Thank you soo much for showering and loving our Easter blessing as much as we did!! Here are some pictures of course!!! I have more pictures that I will post once I get them off my camera. These pictures are thanks to Auntie Laurie!!

We were grateful that some of our family members joined us. She was all giggles and enjoyed the view from the Baby Bejorn from her Auntie Jennifer's shoulders. Things I learned last week...

So this motherhood stuff is all new to me so naturally I will learn some great lessons. Lucky for me last week taught me lots of things..Here they are....

Lesson #1- THINK WITH THE CAMERA FIRST!
Quite a few times last week I had the opportunity to take some very classic moments of Miss Alison and I didn't take advantage of it...Nope! Acted first and then thought darn it..I should have gotten the camera first!!

Lesson #2-YES YOUR FOUR MONTH OLD "PRINCESS" CAN WIGGLE HER WAY OUT OF HER BLUE BOUNCER CHAIR EVEN THOUGH SHE CAN'T ROLL YET.
I was upstairs trying to bring practically everything I needed (including Alison) down in one trip. I soon realized that wasn't going to work so I decided to put Ali in her blue bouncy seat. I was only going to drop the stuff downstairs and come back for her....well guess who got distracted for a few extra minutes or so...ME!!! ugh!! I heard her starting to fuss (her irritated fuss) so I run upstairs and seriously my heart jumped out of my chest. She wasn't there...WHAT!!??!! Where could this nonmobile child of mine go....oh yeah there she is...UNDER THE BED!! She had arched her back enough times that it caused her to slide (not fall) out and roll under the bed. She was mad because the bed skirt was in her face... AYI WHAT KIND OF MOTHER AM I?? All I could say was I am sure glad that CPS wasn't visiting me that day!!

Lesson #3- YES SOME TWO YEAR OLDS DO SHARE!
One of Alison's number one fan is her big cousin Kelsea. Kelsea is 2 1/2 and loves to share EVERYTHING with Baby Ali Lu. So far Alison has snacked on oreos, 5 pez candies, other suckers, cheerios, and who knows what else we didn't catch. Well last week, Kelsea thought that Alison needed some moisturization to her lips..and cheeks..oh and nose...ooh can't forget tongue. I found Kelsea in distraught because her Lipsmacker "Bubble Gum" flavored chapstick wouldn't crank back down because it was smashed, and Alison giggling like crazy because the bubble gum flavored chapstick tasted soo yummy while it is caked on her cheeks, nose, chin, and lips. Man...I cleaned her up before I remembered to the get the camera!!!! Dana and I just laughed so hard!! That was an unforgettable moment!

Lesson #4- My FOUR MONTH OLD NOTICES THINGS BEYOND HER BABY EINSTEIN ACTIVITY CENTER....Therefore, move it away from the plant!!! Again, not paying attention and jabbering on the phone I look over and Alison has a good hearty grip on the the house plant next to her activity center. She was desperately trying to get it to her mouth but couldn't quite reach!! CRAP!!!!!!!!! ahhh haa...Remembered the camera this time!! Snapped some shots and then quickly moved the activity center AWAY from any possible objects that could be in reach of Missy....

Man it is a good thing CPS doesn't visit me on a regular basis otherwise I would be in trouble! I hope you got a good laugh and don't worry SHE IS STILL SAFE AND OK!! HEHE!!
