Operation Christmas Child

This year, like past years, we packed up some shoe boxes with goodies and treats to bless some children throughout the world who are less fortunate. I want to Lu to embrace "giving to others".
She loved picking out the stuff for her "friends"...
..and she was very particular in choosing which box got which gifts!
She was soo excited to help mommy wrap the boxes.
We did three boxes..one for each of us.
There were two girl boxes, and one boy box.
I am going to insert a commerical for the Dollar Tree!!
It is my new favorite store! Why? You ask?
Because they had books, games,
and materials that shared and talked about Jesus!!
We were able to send over the story of Jesus to these sweet kids.

After our boxes were all wrapped and ready to go, we filled out an "All About sheet". Ali drew a picture of herself, and I filled out the questions based on her responses.
We included our address so we will see if we get an letters back!!
Our boxes with be traced to see what part of the world it went to...we can't wait to see where it ended up!

and friendships formed..
We went back to the University of La Verne so Greg could play in the basketball alumni game!

He was anxious..yet excited all at the same time!

I {Heart} Pinterest!

Usually I am a bit behind the new latest fad, fashion, website.. anything hip....
and this time is no except!!
I think it is the Lord's way of saving me from my husband's wrath!
Ok, ok, ok...That part was craziness because if you know Greg, you'll know is  wrath is gentle and kind.
Pinterest is my newest obession. I love looking to see what people find, what I can find, what people are making, and what I can make by using all these amazing people's talent and thought!
I saw this activity under someone's kid craft section, and I thought it would be fun for us to try!
We used it as an opportunity to use it as a color lesson. She put all the colors in order all by herself. I did not help her, and then we talked about the different shades of color. She had a blast!

I hot glued them to the canvas, and out came the blow dryer!!
She had a blast watching the crayons melt and the color drip down.
It did take a while for the crayons to start melting so she lost interest for periods of time, but she quickly came back to watch them drip.
I will admit..I had fun too!!!
Melting crayons is not something you do everyday!

Our finished product!
I can't wait to hang it up in our school time room!!
Have I mentioned that I {heart} pinterest??
Well I DO!! Off to see what else I can find! Happy Friday!

Halloween 2011

I think this is the cutest bee I have ever seen!
She wanted to be a ladybug but we couldn't find a cute one. She went around "stinging" people. It was soo cute!
  I love this sweet girl soo much!
Greg had to teach night school on Halloween so he really through a wrench in the evening. We decided to check out the Harvest Festival at the church we go to MOPS at.
I thought we would only be there a short time,
but due to soo many people it took a lot longer than expected.
   I did truly enjoy watching Ali fight Goliath..
..play croquet into Noah's ark...
 ..round the lions in Daniel's lion den...
 throw bean bags into the 10 commandment tablets
in order to get her candy.
 free bouncers are always soo fun
We had a blast at the Harvest Fest!
We hope you had a great and safe Halloween!

Pumpkin Carving

We love carving pumpkins!!
Due to our camping trip, we ended up carving a pumpkin the day before Halloween.
 The seriousness in carving pumpkins....
 helping dad scrap the stuff inside...
digging deep...
 and then once it was all out
she squeezed, and squished...
and mashed...the rest of the time.
That was her favorite part last year..and this year was no different!
facing creating time....
Here's our happy Jack-o-lantern!

"Pumpkin Prayer"

{cut off top of pumpkin}
Lord, open my mind so I can learn new things about you.

{remove innards}
Remove the things in my life that don’t please you.
Forgive the wrong things I do and help me to forgive others.

{cut open eyes}
Open my eyes to see the beauty you’ve made in the world around me.

{cut out nose}
I’m sorry for the times I’ve turned my nose at the good food you provide.

{cut out mouth}
Let everything I say please You.

{light the candle}
Lord, help me show your light to others through the things I do. Amen
